In order to ensure the safety and functionality of the solar panel system, a maximum of two strings may be connected in parallel without additional measures. With a parallel connection of three or more strings, there is a risk that the reverse current will become too large in the event of a fault and damage the solar panels. In such cases, it is imperative to install a suitable reverse current protection device to protect the solar panels from possible damage.

Under normal conditions, a solar panel may be exposed to conditions that produce a higher current and/or voltage than specified under standard test conditions. The Isc and Voc values indicated on the solar roof panel should be multiplied accordingly by a factor of 1.25 when determining the nominal voltage of the components, the rated current of the conductors, and the size of the controllers connected to the PV output (e.g. inverters).
